I realize I"m a dinosaur, but......

Ok, ok, so I know it's lame playing a 10 year old game, but believe it or not it's just had some new life blown into it recently. Guns and I have discovered Hardcore Mode, and if you haven't tried it, then you haven't really played Diablo 2. After many failed attempts, I just got the Guardian title (defeated Baal in Hell Mode, Hardcore) with a level 83 Javazon. I also just lost my Pally last night at level 58 in act 4, Nightmare mode. So you win some, you lose some.

In any case, if anyone is interested in trying out Hardcore, then look me and Guns up on the West server (SE-Iceqb and SE-Gunslinger11 respectively) and we'll definitely help you get started. I don't usually get on until 9 PM Pacific, but Guns is on earlier sometimes. Hope to see one of you out there!

I'm still too chicken to try Hardcore, but D2 still has breath in this house too. My kid and I've been playing on the LAN. We get all the PCs and laptops in the house to log into the game (about 4) and then we do quest for a while. We don't get a lot of time, but an hour here or there is still fun.

At some point I will try Hardcore.

And I didn't realize Gun was still out there. Tell him to swing by here and sign up for the board.

And I will have to get him and Mel up on the roster board.

Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only dinosaur. Hardcore is definitely easier with a group of trusted individuals. Soloing is usually a ticket to your deeds being remembered, unless you've got a good build with all the right equipment. I got lucky this go-around with my zon and equipment drops and she can solo HM Baal with little or no trouble, but she's an exception, not the rule. Even so, she's come close to being remembered a couple of times, so I still have to pay attention. Bottom line in HC is that you can expect to die at some point no matter what, the fun is in seeing how far you can go. Right now I'm half way to 88, and if I take care of myself I expect to see 90 and beyond, but it's taken me 6 or 7 tries to get that far.
